February Happenings

Posted on February 3, 2016

While many of our attractions are busy preparing for the summer season, there are still great places to visit during February. Celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s birthday by visiting local attractions honoring the formative childhood years he spent in Spencer County. Lincoln State Park offers several trails to walk, and you can watch the mist rise from Lake Lincoln as the sun warms the chilled water. Across the street, you can visit the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, tour the museum, watch a film, and visit the gravesite of Abe’s mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln. It’s always the right season to enjoy a self-guided tour of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Stroll the peaceful grounds and marvel at the architecture of this Spencer County treasure. Stop by the gift shop for inspirational gifts for your loved ones. Saint-Meinrad-Archabbey-Winter.jpg Christmas Lake Golf Course is open for die-hard golfers who don’t mind bundling up. Afterward, enjoy lunch at the 19th Hole restaurant. Holly Tree Christmas Shop and Evergreen Boutique stock great gifts and souvenirs all year long. If you’re still looking for a great valentine gift, look no further. February is also a great time to enjoy a glass of wine at one of our local wineries. Monkey Hollow and Pepper’s Ridge Wineries both offer great selections of wines to help warm up the winter nights.
