Nine Ways to Pack Smart
Posted on June 15, 2015
One of the things no one can get away from when going on a trip – near or far – is the packing. It may be one travel bag or several suitcases but it’s always something!
Here are nine packing tips we’ve gathered for your trip to the Santa Claus area:
- If you’re staying at a hotel or rental with a TV, it usually has a USB plugin you can use with chargers.
- Use an empty Chap Stick tube or medicine case to keep jewelry from getting tangled. But it’s probably best not to bring your favorite jewelry; we’re pretty casual around here!
- Put your shoes in a shower cap to cover the bottoms and protect the rest of your packed belongings from any loose dirt.
- If you’re like me, you may be guilty of losing dozens of bobby pins on any given trip. Put a bundle in an empty Tic Tac case to keep the pins together and readily available.
- Pot holders make a heat-safe spot to keep hair tools like curling irons, straighteners, and blow dryers.
- Pack snacks. Whether it’s a late night snack attack or fuel during the day, it’s helpful to have a bite to eat handy. (And if you’re traveling with kids, pack extra snacks!)
- Bring a couple empty grocery bags to store wet clothes after a day of playing in the water.
- Pack for Indiana weather… which could mean rain and sun in the same day! But be careful with this one because you don’t want to overpack either.
- Family vacations can be filled with fun, memorable moments and lots of compromises so don’t forget to pack your sense of humor, too.
