Trip Tips – How to Get Here

Our community has many charming characteristics. The town of Santa Claus is home to themed attractions and Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. Sites throughout Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home include the areas where our 16th president lived, learned, and even suffered losses, from 1816 – 1830.

One of the most charming qualities is that off-the-beaten-path feeling you get when exploring the area. It doesn’t just feel off the beaten path, it kind of is.

Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to access our community from major highways and interstates.

Here’s how to get here:

If you’re westbound on I-64: 

(Traveling from Louisville toward St. Louis.) 

To Santa Claus and Lincoln City:

  • Take exit 63 to IN-162 toward Santa Claus
  • Follow IN-162 to Santa Claus (You’ll see the roller coasters!)
  • Arrive at a stop light where IN-162 and IN-245 meet. Depending on your destination, you can turn left to get to Santa’s Candy Castle and the Santa Claus Museum & Village. Or, you can turn right to get to Santa’s Lodge, the Santa Claus Christmas Store, and the Visitors Bureau. If you’re planning on going to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, you can drive straight through the intersection to access free parking.

To Rockport:

  • Continue on I-64 west to exit 57A for US-231 south
  • Follow US-231 south to the exit for IN-66 towards Tell City/Rockport/Evansville
  • At the end of the exit, turn right onto IN-66 towards Rockport to get to attractions like the Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum, Lincoln Landing, and more.

If you’re eastbound on I-64:

(Traveling from St. Louis to Louisville) 

To Santa Claus and Lincoln City

  • Take exit 57A onto US-231 south
  • Take the IN-162 exit toward Gentryville/Santa Claus
  • If you’re headed to Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial or Lincoln State Park, turn right onto IN-162 towards Lincoln City.
  • If you’re heading to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari and other attractions in Santa Claus, turn left on IN-162 toward Santa Claus.

To Rockport:

  • Take exit 57A onto US-231 south
  • Continue on US-231 south
  • Take the IN-66 exit towards Tell City/Rockport/Evansville
  • At the end of the ramp, turn right to get to Rockport for attractions including the Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum.

If you’re northbound on US-231: 

(Traveling from Kentucky to Indiana) 

To Santa Claus and Lincoln City:

  • Continue on US-231 north
  • Take the IN-162 exit toward Gentryville/Santa Claus
  • If you’re heading to Lincoln City, turn left.
  • If you’re headed toward Santa Claus, turn right.

To Rockport:

  • After crossing the bridge from Kentucky to Indiana, take the IN-66 exit towards Tell City/Santa Claus/Evansville
  • At the end of the ramp, turn right onto IN-66.

If you’re southbound on US-231: 

(Traveling south from Jasper)  

To Santa Claus and Lincoln City:

  • Continue on US-231 south
  • Take the IN-162 exit toward Gentryville/Santa Claus
  • If you’re headed to Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial or Lincoln State Park, turn right onto IN-162 towards Lincoln City.
  • If you’re heading to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari and other attractions in Santa Claus, turn left on IN-162 toward Santa Claus.

To Rockport:

  • Continue on US-231 south
  • Take the IN-66 exit toward Tell City/Rockport/Evansville
  • At the end of the ramp, turn right to head toward Rockport on IN-66.

Other important information:

  • Spencer County is on Central Standard Time, similar to Chicago and St. Louis. Visitors traveling from Indianapolis, Louisville, and other destinations that operate on Eastern Standard Time, should keep in mind we’re one hour behind.
  • The closest airports to Spencer County are Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) and Louisville International Airport (SDF). Evansville Regional Airport is about a one-hour drive to the Santa Claus area. Louisville International Airport is just over an hour drive to the Santa Claus area.

For guidance once you’re in town, you can stop by the Visitors Bureau. We’re located in the Kringle Place shopping center, next to the Santa Claus Christmas Store. We’re open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm CT, and Saturdays, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm CT from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.
