Trip Tips - When to Visit

Posted on January 7, 2019

Not sure about you, but these chilly temperatures have us daydreaming of warm summer days and cool (but not cold) fall mornings! We know many families are already planning trips to ride coasters at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, walk trails at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, camp at Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, and more. A common question from travelers this time of the year is about when is the best time to visit our wonderful destination. Is it spring when the trees and flowers begin showing vibrant colors? Or is it the peak summer when temperatures are high and the water park feels so refreshing? Could it be the fall weekends full of horseback riding, bonfires, and leaf piles? Or is it the festive holiday season, when the town of Santa Claus goes all out for the holidays? The answer? All of the above! It just depends on what you're looking for and the time of the year that is best for your family. A favorite time of the year for some "regulars" would have to be spring. Those who visit during the spring and early summer tend to experience fewer crowds but great temperatures. Holiday World & Splashin' Safari opens on Saturday, May 2, 2020, making all of May an ideal time to visit before summer gets into full swing. Another plus -- lodging rates tend to be a little lower outside of the peak summer season. Of course, we're slightly biased, but the summer is fun, the fall is a breeze, and the holiday season is oh-so-festive... so you can't really go wrong! Don't forget to make sure the places you want to visit will be open when you're considering travel plans. Some businesses are only open weekends or closed for certain holidays. You can find monthly business hours here. This blog post has been updated from January 2019.
