10 Things to Do During Fall Heritage Day

Fall Heritage Day Feature photo blog post

One of southern Indiana’s true gems of living history. Walk in Lincoln’s footsteps and tour thirteen replica cabins showing life as it was here during President Lincoln’s childhood years. The Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum is a historic memorial to Lincoln that visualizes the environment in which Lincoln lived during the 14 formative years of his life, from 1816 to 1830.

Mark your calendar today so you don’t miss Fall Heritage Day on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Experience these ten things during your visit:

  1. Watch costumed interpreters perform period demonstrations.
  2. Hand dip your very own candle to take home.
  3. Visit the museum filled with artifacts including Civil War to World War II displays.
  4. Attend a “blab” school taught by the schoolmarm.
  5. Talk to reenactors about what life was like when the Lincolns lived in Indiana.
  6. Listen to storyteller Susan Fowler in the afternoon.
  7. Make a quilt block to take home.
  8. Have your picture taken next to the unique scarecrow displays throughout the village.
  9. Tour replica cabins depicting Abraham Lincoln’s family and neighbors while in Indiana.
  10. See a cabinet made by Abraham Lincoln and his father, Thomas Lincoln.
