Here at the Spencer County Visitors Bureau, we are sometimes asked the question, “Where is a local, off-the-beaten-path, place to eat?”

There’s a lot to do in our neck of the woods. From exploring the 2,026-acre state park honoring President Lincoln to soaring through the air at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. Taste some local flavor to help re-build your energy.

Here are some of the best local food spots you just can’t miss:  

New Boston Tavern is located near Troy, Indiana. This small-town home cooking will leave a lasting impression. The classic cooking methods and great service are worth visiting again and again.

  • Don’t Miss: Tender and juicy pork chops and charcoal grilled chicken, fish, and steaks served Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. 
  • Drink Menu: Soft drinks, iced tea, lemonade, and a full-service bar  
  • Atmosphere: A home-town restaurant that makes everyone feel like family.

Frosty’s Fun Center is located in Santa Claus, Indiana, just minutes from Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. This restaurant offers freshly baked pizza, snacks, sandwiches, ice cream, and more! 

  • Don’t Miss: Delicious specialty pizza, family-friendly prices, and the Dirty Frosty Sundae. 
  • Drink menu: Soft drinks and draft beers 
  • When to Go: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Atmosphere: Frosty’s Fun Center offers family fun for all ages at the arcade, pizzeria, and ice cream parlor. This is a one-stop shop!

Angelo’s Pizza is located in Rockport, Indiana. This cozy restaurant is a great place to spend time with friends and family and enjoy a good meal. The famous breadsticks with cheese are sought out near and far. 

  • Don’t Miss: Breadsticks with cheese sauce, The Stromboli, and Al Capone sandwich. 
  • Drink menu: Soft drinks and lemonade 
  • When to Go: Lunch and dinner 
  • Atmosphere: Good people serving great food. Angelo’s Pizza serves a lunch buffet complete with a salad bar, mouth-watering lasagna and spaghetti, fried chicken, and more. In the evening enjoy freshly made pizza, subs, and wings. There is a private dining room for parties with a big screen TV.

The Rustic Golf Course & Country Club features good home cooking and a great atmosphere. This restaurant is open daily from 5:00 am – 9:00 pm CT.

  • Atmosphere: Enjoy a game on the big screen or a round of golf at the course right in front of the restaurant.

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari added tons of new food options at Santa’s Merry Marketplace like American Grill, Pizza & Pasta, Asian Cuisine, Polar Expresso, and much more.

  • Don’t Miss: Stop by the new Dippin’ Dots Sundae Shop for tasty new flavors!  
  • Drink menu: Free drinks including water, soft drinks (Pepsi), Gatorade, lemonade, and iced tea.  
  • When to Go: May – October 2019 
  • Atmosphere: Clean and friendly family-owned theme park and water park.
