A Sappy Story

Posted on February 25, 2014

Listen up, Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial has an announcement. Warning: It’s a sappy story. No need for tissues, though. It’s actually pretty sweet. The park is in the process of collecting maple tree sap and boiling it to create syrup. It’s a neat experience and they are letting you in on the fun. Blog-LIBO.jpg The amount of sap collected depends on the size of the tree and the temperature variation. It takes thirty-five gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup! The maple syrup is then boiled to remove the water and concrete the sugars during evaporation. Stop by Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial this Saturday, March 1, to sample the sweet syrup for yourself.
