Day Tripping

Posted on June 16, 2020

This area is so chock full of fun things to do, most visitors require more than a day trip to experience everything on their itinerary. But we know it’s not always possible to devote multiple days to your visit.
Maybe you’re just passing through the area and want to stop in to see what we’re all about. Or perhaps you’re close enough to drive here just for the day.
Either way, we have a list of must-see spots for day trippers of all kinds!

Hitting the Highlights

Santa Claus Christmas StoreSanta’s TOYS, and Evergreen Boutique & Christmas Shop – Like to shop? These three shops are all conveniently located within walking distance of one another. Find thousands of ornaments at Santa Claus Christmas Store. Choose from the best selection of specialty toys this side of the North Pole at Santa’s TOYS. And shop the latest women’s fashions, plus unique seasonal décor, at Evergreen Boutique & Christmas Shop.
Santa’s Candy Castle – Road trips are all about the snacks. So be sure you stock up for your trip back home! Grab a frosty frozen hot chocolate while you’re browsing Santa’s Candy Castle. Then choose from old-fashioned and hard-to-find candy favorites, plus an extensive selection of chocolates and flavored popcorn.
Lincoln State Park – If you’ve been in the car a while, you probably need to stretch your legs. And Lincoln State Park is the perfect place to do so. Get your blood pumping on over 10 miles of hiking trails, learn a little as you stroll through the Lincoln Bicentennial Plaza, or have some interactive family fun at the Nature Center. And if you need to cool down (and remembered to pack your swimsuit), you can always take a dip in Lake Lincoln!
Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum – Have a full day to spend in the area? Take a trip back in time at Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum! Start with a walk through 13 Lincoln-era replica cabins for a glimpse at how Abe and his family lived. Then head into the museum to see hundreds of unique artifacts from this area’s storied past.
Holiday Drive-In Movie Theater – Passing through late in the day? You don’t even have to get out of the car to enjoy a flick at the classic Holiday Drive-In! Choose from a nightly double feature. And if you’re traveling with a furry friend, don’t worry… well-behaved pets are welcome, too!

When a Day’s Just Not Enough

Day trips are fun. But let’s be honest: A single day simply isn’t enough time to see and do all the fun and interesting things this area has to offer.
So, if you think you might want to extend your visit, there are lots of great places to stay!
