Know Before You Go

Posted on April 8, 2014

Sometimes a little planning can make your family vacation much smoother. It's hard to plan for everything but here is a list of five things to help make your trip as smooth as creamy peanut butter! 1. Weather in Indiana tends to have a mind of its own. Definitely check the forecast before your trip but come prepared. Bring an umbrella, extra clothes, sunscreen, and a spare pair of shoes. Check out our local weather information online. 2. If you know how long you'll be in the area and sometimes it helps to plan out what you want to do. Do you want to spend two full days at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari and tour Lincoln State Park and the Saint Meinrad Archabbey? The more you plan out what you want to do in advance, the less likely you are to run out of time during your trip. Here is a link to help you plan your trip. 3. Reserve your spot! Did you know you can schedule a time for horseback riding at Santa's Stables here? Or a time to tee off at Christmas Lake Golf Course by calling (877) 962-7465? And you can view Lincoln Amphitheatre's performance schedule in advance here (or buy tickets here!). 4. Most attractions are close to each other but not necessarily in walking distance. Don't worry; you can stay overnight near it all! Find local lodging options here and download free maps here. Don't forget; parking is free at most attractions, too. 5. If your family is like most, hunger can turn the sweetest into the meanest. Food is important. Browse through our list of local restaurants here. You can also find a place to stay during your visit that comes with a full kitchen like Holiday Guest House Suites, NorthStar Vacation Homes, and more. See a full list of lodging options here.
