License Plate

Posted on June 30, 2015

In 1987, the Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association began telling the Indiana story of Abraham Lincoln and his family struggles in the Indiana wilderness. "A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale" takes place onstage at Lincoln Amphitheatre inside Lincoln State Park, on the very ground Abraham Lincoln walked and played on as a boy from age 7 to 21. Now the association needs your help to continue telling the world of the 14 formative years Mr. Lincoln lived here in what is not Lincoln City, Indiana. A specialty license plate to honor the arrival of Abraham Lincoln's family here in 1816 is now available. The plate commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Lincoln's arrival, right around the time Indiana became the 19th state. Proceeds from the sales of these specialty plates will go toward helping continue the signature production of "A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale." The plates include a $15 BMV administrative fee and a specialty group fee of $25 which will go directly to Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association. When renewing your license plate, please ask for the Lincoln Boyhood Drama Association plate depicting the Lincoln family arrival in 1816. Please note, there are other Lincoln plates available through the BMV but the proceeds from other plates go to the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis and not Lincoln's Indiana Boyhood Home. Check out sites dedicated to Abraham Lincoln's time in Indiana here.
