Plan, Relax, Remember

Plan Ahead – Consider visiting during the week and book early to secure your spot in America’s Christmas Hometown and Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home. Decide what lodging best suits your family. The Santa Claus area offers hotels, cabins, rental homes, and RVs, all conveniently located near the local attractions and restaurants.

Dress for (Vacation) Success – You won’t need your entire wardrobe, but some summer accessories are essential. Pack your swimsuit so you can enjoy the slides and water rides at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. (Check out Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari’s “Insider Tips” for even more great tips.) Bring your tennis shoes and take the family on an evening walk through Lincoln State Park or tour the beautiful grounds at Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Be prepared by packing sunglasses, beach towels, an umbrella, and sunscreen so you can enjoy all the area outdoor activities.

Capture the Moment – Seeing your child’s face light up as they ride a pony at Santa’s Stables or when they excitedly explore the Lincoln-era cabins at Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum are memories you won’t want to forget. Remember to bring your camera, memory card, charger, and fresh batteries to snap those priceless images. Feeling creative? Create a video diary with images to document all of the fun things your family experiences during the trip!

Think like a Kid – This is your time to connect with your children and see life through their eyes. When visiting, help them write a letter to Santa at the Santa Claus Museum & Village or treat the family to a frozen hot chocolate from Santa’s Candy Castle. Our country’s great president, Abraham Lincoln, grew up in Indiana. Visit Abe’s childhood sites such as the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and Lincoln State Park to learn about how things were for Abe as a kid.

Pace Yourself – There’s so much to see in Santa Claus and Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood Home. Map out your time accordingly and plan for two or more days so you can visit all of the nearby attractions. Summer only comes once a year, so soak in all of the sun and fun you can!
