May is heating up with things to do in the Santa Claus, Indiana, area! Popular attractions, including Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari and Santa Claus Museum & Village will begin their 2022 seasons. And weekends are filling up with fun activities and events, including performances at Lincoln Amphitheatre. 
If you’re working on your itinerary for a May getaway, here’s what you need to know!

Things to Do in May 2022 

Lincoln Pioneer Village & Museum opens for the season on May 1. Be sure to stop in on May 14 for Spring Heritage Day to enjoy costumed interpreters, fun demonstrations like sheep-shearing and candle-dipping, a visit with Abe, and so much more!
Get in the spirit at the Santa Claus Christmas Store all May long. Opening day is April 30, and the store is open daily throughout the month. And stop in the Archabbey Library Gallery through May 14 to see the “Clay and Paper” Art Exhibit.
Calling all coaster fans! Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari opens the theme park on May 14. Then get ready to make a splash when the water park, Splashin’ Safari, opens on May 21.
Want to have a good time while supporting a great cause! Stir-n-Up Hope, a not-for-profit organization that provides free therapeutic horse riding sessions for handicapped individuals, will host a 20th Anniversary Spring Fling Celebration with dinner, dancing, and more on May 7.
Lace up your running (or walking) shoes! Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood 5K Run/Walk will wind its way through Lincoln State Park on May 7. Tree-lined paved road at Lincoln State Park in summer Have you been neglecting your sweet tooth? You can remedy that when Santa’s Candy Castle opens in mid-May! The exact opening date hasn’t been determined yet, so watch our What’s Open page to see when hours are announced.
Local wine and live music are the perfect pairing on May weekends! See who’s playing at Monkey Hollow Winery and Distillery and Pepper’s Ridge Winery this month—and throughout the summer. 
Love movies? And popcorn? And family nights under the stars? Then be at Holiday Drive-In on May 6 for opening weekend! (Pro tip: Grab an order of breadsticks from Angelo’s Pizza to take with you.)
Lincoln Amphitheatre kicks off its 2022 performance schedule in May. On May 14, Garrison Keillor Tonight brings an evening of stand-up, storytelling, and more to the stage. Then on May 21, have a totally awesome time rocking out to Electric Avenue: The 80s MTV Experience. Tour the museum, write this year’s letter to Santa extra early, and don’t forget to snap a #SantaSelfie with the 22-foot-tall historic Santa statue! 
All aboard! Lincoln Flyer Train Rides begin on May 28 and take riders on a 10+ mile journey from Santa Claus, Indiana, through the Indiana countryside.
Plan a beach day for Memorial Day weekend! The beach at Lake Lincoln inside Lincoln State Park opens for the summer on May 29.
