The Ultimate Halloween Weekend Itinerary

Halloween Weekend

Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, gorgeous fall scenery, and pumpkin flavored everything? Yes, please! We get almost as excited about the Halloween season as we do Christmas time around here. Halloween weekend is pumpkin-packed with spooktacular events and fall activities. It can be a little overwhelming trying to prioritize all the fun, so we made it easy and did it for you!

To get the most out of visit during Halloween Weekend, here’s the ultimate itinerary:

7:00-10:00 pm CT – Start the weekend off with a haunted tour of the Santa Claus Museum & Village for Santa’s Haunted Church, a ghostly walk that welcomes family members of all ages.

October Things To Do

9:00 am-5:00 pm CT – Spend the morning at the Fall Heritage Days Rendezvous and watch as history comes alive through reenactors, demonstrations, kids’ activities, live music, food, and more. There’s even trunk-or-treating to keep the Halloween spirit going!

1:00 pm or 3:00 pm CT – Head to the Tell City Depot, only about a 20-minute drive from the Fall Heritage Days Rendezvous, for one of the Children’s Halloween Train Rides or a two-hour Zombie Train Ride from 6:00-8:00 pm. The kids will have a blast singing, dancing, and pumpkin decorating.

NOTE: For those 21 and older, a zombie bar crawl will take place in Tell City at 8:00 pm when the train returns. Costumes are encouraged, but try not to bleed on the seats.

7:00-8:00 pm CT Stop into the Santa Claus Museum & Village for All Hallows’ Eve, where storyteller Susan Fowler will hold a lantern-lit reading of Washington Irving’s classic ghost story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, followed by an appearance of the headless horseman himself!

All Hallows Eve

9:00 am-5:00 pm CT – Start the morning off with a sweet treat from Santa’s Candy Castle. You have to try the caramel apple flavored popcorn and the pumpkin hot cocoa.

11:00 am-8:00 pm CT– Spend the rest of the day enjoying all your favorite Holiday World rides and more during the last Happy Halloween Weekends of the season. There are corn mazes, hayrides, Halloween shows, and so much more. Don’t forget your costume!

Shew! What a weekend, huh? But it’s sure to be one the whole family will reminisce about for years to come.
